Volunteers from the Brodhead Chapter of Trout Unlimited, in conjunction with the National Park Service and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, held a free youth fishing clinic and casting contest that was open children aged five to 15. It was held from 9 a.m. to noon at the Hidden Lake Picnic Area in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation area on May 24 over the Memorial Day Holiday Weekend. May 24 was also a Fish-for-Free day in Pennsylvania, which enabled the kids’ parents and grandparents to get involved in the action as well.
The young people that participated learned basic angling skills, safety, and ethics. In addition, they participated in a casting contest and won fishing-related prizes.
