The Brodhead Chapter of Trout Unlimited is now offering a unique Intermediate Level Fly Tying Workshop as a follow-up Saturday morning program to the successful beginner class held in January. Once again, anyone with basic fly tying skills may register for this course, even if you didn’t attend the January Beginner class.
On two consecutive Saturdays, February 7th and 14th from 9 a.m. until Noon, members of the Brodhead Chapter of Trout Unlimited will be on-hand at the Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center located at 8050 Running Valley Road in Bartonsville, right off Route 611, to teach fly patterns and materials handling techniques that exhibit a slightly higher level of tying skills.
Once again, the chief instructor for this course will be former PA State Champion Fly-tier Scott Cesari, and he will be joined by the Master Fly-Tiers of the Brodhead TU Chapter. Bring your vise and fly-tying tools and learn how to tie flies some of the more complex patterns that really catch trout from some of the best fly-tiers in the northeast, including Todd Burns, Eric Baird, Tom Battista, Don Baylor, John Smith and Will Daskal.
This is not a beginner’s class, and its focus is for fly tiers who have already mastered basic tying skills! During this two-week course, the public will learn more advanced skills required to tie trout flies such as stacking hair, tying wing posts and stripping and tying quill body flies!
Lesson plans and recipes for all flies covered in this intermediate level fly tying course will be available at the first session.
As always, instruction for this comprehensive course is absolutely free; however, there is a very modest $10 fee that covers the cost of the material packets required to tie several flies for each of the patterns covered in class.
For more information and to register for this ever-popular fly-tying class, contact Brodhead Chapter of Trout Unlimited Vice-President, Will Daskal, at 610-381-6188. The deadline to register for this class is February 4th.
